Application Questions
How do I access the application?
The application is only available online through our application portal.
When is the application deadline?
Applications are now due.
There is a $100 application fee.
What is the application fee?
The application has a one-time, non-refundable fee of $100.00
What documentation is needed along with the application?
We require
-The HSPT or the ISEE entrance exam results (no preference is given to either test)
-An official school transcript that shows all courses taken for the past two years*
-A letter of recommendation from an English, math or social studies teacher*

The application will prompt for references for the Teacher Recommendation and
information regarding Transcript Requests.
How many letters of recommendation do I need to submit?
We only require one letter of recommendation to be submitted along with your application. Letters are due no later than ​February 3, 2017. ​The recommendation form can be downloaded within the application.

What is the Inquiry?
The Admissions Inquiry is our new one-stop-shop for all things related to the admissions process. You can learn more about the Admissions Process, schedule a tour, and more all in one place. If you have any questions or issues with the utility, please contact our Admissions Office.
What are the criteria for admission?

The requirements for freshman admissions are: 

  • Sixth, Seventh and first semester eighth grade transcripts
  • High School Placement Test (HSPT) results
  • Recommendation by current teacher or principal
  • School visits are optional
  • Student Interview

    For applicants whose primary residence is not the United State of America (students who will not have completed 3 continuous years of Middle School education in American schools before entering 9th grade), and for applicants who need an I-20, please contact Yona Han, Director of Global Education for current tuition and fees (626.696.4363).

    Can I transfer to La Salle?
    Applications are available online, but please contact the Director of Admissions, Lizabeth Cadwalader, BEFORE submitting your application to find out if there is room available within your class.
    What exam is required admissions? Does the exam need to be taken at La Salle?
    We accept the STS/HSPT (High School Placement Test) and the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination). 

    Many students take the exam at La Salle, but it is not required. La Salle is happy to accept exam results from other school locations. It is the applicant's responsibility to request the other school send the results to us.

    La Salle offers the High School Placement Test on January 14, 2017 and January 28, 2017. You may register for the High School Placement Test when you submit your application. We also accept the ISEE. The ISEE code for La Salle High School is 570800.

    We will send results your High School Placement Test results to other high schools upon request.
    Does La Salle conduct interviews as part of the admissions process?
    Yes. We require ALL students to interview with a member of the Admissions Team as part of the application process. Student interviews are scheduled within your application.
    Do you give tours? Are tours required?
    We offer a variety of tours designed for students, parents, or both. Tours are not required as part of the admissions process. However, we do highly recommend that you attend Open House. You can register for a tour by accessing the Admissions Inquiry.

    Do you offer financial aid?
    Yes. Financial aid is need based. Applications are available early December in the Finance Office. Admission is need based blind. Currently 28% of our students receive some form of financial aid.

    Can a non-Catholic be admitted to La Salle?
    Yes. Currently, approximately one third of the student population is non-Catholic. Being a part of the Catholic faith is not required for admission, nor does it give a student precedence during the application process.
    How many students apply for how many spots?
    La Salle has consistently received approximately 400 applications for 175 spaces over the last three years for the freshman class.
    What honors and AP (Advanced Placement) courses do you offer?
    We offer 14 honors and 16 AP courses are available in English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, World Languages, and Visual & Performing Arts. More information is available on our Course Catalog.

    What does a typical freshman schedule look like?

    La Salle High School operates on an A-B bell schedule. Each student is registered in 7 different classes. Each day, 3 or 4 classes meet in 75-minute blocks with breaks in between.
